Flouting the norms of the Karnataka film industry the distributors of the ‘Kites’ Hindi film starring Hrithik Roshan had to pay the penalty on Friday morning. The police intervened to control the situation as the audience all set to watch the film ‘Kites’ were vacated from the cinema screens in at least five places in Bangalore.

The hapless audience had enough of trouble for no mistake and the Reliance Big Pictures had come to the terms and followed the norms the situation of Friday would not have come up.

For the hullabaloo on Friday that is a war between the Kannada film industry and ‘Kites’ Hindi cinema here is what happened day earlier.

In the exceptional cases the maximum of non Kannada release should not exceed 40 theatres in Karnataka. But Reliance Big Pictures flouting the norms has made up arrangements for 90 plus screens that too when two big films ‘Shanker IPS’ starring action hero Vijay and Ragini in the direction of MS Ramesh, ‘Nooru Janmaku’ of ace director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar starring Santosh and Aindrita Ray are releasing on 21st May 2010.

When this rule was flouted by ‘Jalsa’ ‘Magadheera’ Telugu film distributor Vijayakumar in Karnataka he had to resign from his position.

An emergency meeting with the exhibitors was held on Thursday by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Basanth Kumar Patil has clearly indicated the exhibitors who flout the norms set by the KFCC would face the strictures. The exhibitors in return asked for written letter not to screen Hrithik Roshan ‘Kites’.

Many of the theatres have made online booking and issued advance tickets to ‘Kites’. The advance booking has been made till Monday for ‘Kites’. The exhibitors have now decided to return back the advance amount taken from the cine goers.

Not adhering to the rules set and accepted by everyone Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce headed by Basanthkumar Patil with all sectors of Kannada industry support went to five screening halls where Hrithik Roshan ‘Kites’ is showing and successfully stopped the screening. Screening in excess prints and screens by Reliance Big Pictures is a violation of the norms of KFCC is the reason for such attacks.

On Friday morning around 11 am in two buses the Kannada film industry personnel barged in to Inox in Mantri Mall in Malleswaram and after stopping the screening of ‘Kites’ all the members were arrested in police vans and left free later on. Agai in the afternoon the team of Kannada film industry went to Cauvery theatre where Kites was showing and stalled the screening. At Cauvery theatre the former KFCC President Dr Jayamala also joined the team.

In the evening the Big cinema at Gopalan Mall, Fun Cinema and PVR were also attacked as the Reliance Big Pictures failed to adhere to the regulations of KFCC.

In the recent times this is a major protest on the excess of prints barging inside the Karnataka state.
